众所周知，空气污染会引发很多健康问题，包括呼吸及心血管疾病。然而，空气质量的测定是比较困难的，尤其在发展中国家，地上探测器、飞行器设施以及相关的技术人员都比较匮乏。
那么面对无处不在的空气，如何随时随地就能轻松检测空气质量？
2018中美青年创客总决赛场上，Team solar clean city团队给出了崭新的答案：仅依靠太阳能就能检测空气质量的空气质量传感器。

产品研发最终的目的是什么？团队的UX调查员萨曼莎•侯这样说。
我们希望利用这一款空气质量传感器，解决现有和潜在的问题：污染问题，和影响健康、影响全国人口的心血管疾病问题。我们很想帮助百姓们，很想为解决当今的健康危机贡献力量。未来我们甚至可能将这些数据运用到城市和家庭的空气净化装置当中。
With this air quality sensor, we wanted to address the current and potential issues of pollution and the cardiovascular diseases that affect peoples health today. And we really just want to help the people and really address this health crisis that’s happening today. And potentially we can even connect this data to air purification systems around the city and within your home.
研发产品的原理是什么呢？
首先，这是一个移动设备，现在只是个原型机，真正的机器将会小得多。我们用的是一个传感器系统。在这里有显示，有二氧化碳、二氧化氮、二氧化硫、光、热等等你想监测的与污染有关的因素。我们收集这些数据，然后用GSM或者wifi来传回服务器中。
Essentially, it’s a mobile device, it’s a prototype, and the actual device is much smaller. We are using a system of sensors. We have here on display, we have CO2 sensors, NO2 sensors, SO2 sensors, light, heat, any number of things, for pollutions you want to track. We collect the data and we stream it back to our server with either GSM or wifi.
小队还为收集数据做了不少工作。
我们在北京沿路收集数据，都显示在这张地图上。我们可以在这张地图上看到污染物集中的等级，可以看到数据，还可以选择不同的程度和地点，所以如果放在不同的城市、公司，都可以监测这些等级，防止有太多污染。
We were actually walking along with Beijing and we are collecting data and the data is represented on this map. You could see that the concentrative levels of pollution in this map, and you could see as the data, you can change the gradient, you can change the location of it so if you apply this around different cities, different companies, you can see and monitor these levels and prevent too much pollution going on.
在这支年轻的团队心中，“创客”是什么？
我小时候，爸妈告诉我，生活有两个选择：一是就这样生活下去，接受这个世界本来的样子；二是去改变世界。我觉得青年创客的想法和刚刚的说法是完美契合的。你被赋予了一些机会，而你要利用这些机会来找到改变世界的方式，让世界变得更好。
When I was young, I was told by my parents that I have two choices in life, one of them is to live in the world and just kind of accept it as the way it is, the other one is to change it. And I think the idea of young maker perfectly encapsulates that idea. That you are given some opportunities and you use those opportunities to build it into a way to change the world you live in to make it a better place.
